The beautiful work of Charles Young

As the year draws to a close, it’s usual to reflect on what we’ve done (or not) over the past 12 months, to weigh up our output, and if we’re lucky, feel a certain pride in our achievements. I’m sure it’s satisfying for Edinburgh-based Charles Young to look back at his endeavours: a physical diary of ideas manifested as beautiful, precise, yet dreamy models, captured in his blog Paperholm.

I particularly love the models which contrast the light, precise, paper with natural pebbles, although there is also a satisfying neatness to those which fit into cigar boxes, and I don’t think it’s just the architect in me – these delicate little structures seem to tell stories of their own. I can only imagine what they look like when they are arranged together!
